Sleeping Lines Doodling To Dreamland

Dreamy Doodle

This is an old image Jade and I created together.

Sometimes, we like to make random marks and see what happens.

The lines are drifting off to sleep … going  to dreamland.

NHL Is Back … “Bear-Mauled” with Mixed Feelings

NHL Hockey Is Back ...

I love hockey.

I grew up playing the sport.

I still play every week. I used to play 3 to 5 times a week.

I play because I love the game.

Frankly, I’m kind of sick of the NHL.

I’m tired of the owners and their lockouts.

I’m not really keen on most of the NHL star players either.

Personally, I think most of them are “out-of-touch” and overpaid.

After the 2011 Stanley Cup Riot though, I’m even fed up with certain “fans” too.

I’ll spend my money on my equipment, expensive sticks and ice time.

But, I’m not going to watch many NHL games at the arena or on TV …

Well … maybe not until the playoffs.

Creating Nonsense Stories

Nonsense Stories

“What should we draw today?”

Often, Jade and I brainstorm funny or weird scenarios before we doodle.

~

“Wouldn’t it be funny if …”

We created mom as a “cat-bicycle” chasing a mouse.

The mouse really wants some cheese.

~

“Make the drawings come to life.”

After we doodle, sometimes Jade likes to act them out.

She’s loves adding drama to life (haha).

~

“You be Momma and I’ll be the mouse … the stuffy will be the cheese.”

Thank you Jade for your wonderful smiles and imagination.

We make beautiful nonsense together ;P

Singing Happy Songs

Singing Happy Songs

A fun, happy drawing from my 3 year old daughter Jade.

We sing, play, and dance whenever we can.

Her happiness is truly contagious!

I just love her!

The Mesmerizing Northern Lights

Northern Lights

A hint of Arctic air.

It was chilly in Vancouver today.

I was telling Jade about the beauty of the Northern Lights.

I grew up in the Canadian prairies and we’d see them often.

The Northern Lights dance, glow and shimmer across the dark sky.

The Canadian winter brings many moments of creative beauty.

Yesterday, during a family walk, I photographed some ice.

Always appreciate the simple beauty around you.

New Discovery — Galapagos Birds and Toilet Rolls

Bird Toilet Paper Rolls

Little known fact …

These are the famous Toilet Roll Galapagos Birds (image above).

Darwin originally linked the evolution of birds with common toilet rolls.

My wife presented and unearthed this startling, new discovery today!

Remember, DON’T throw away your old toilet paper rolls.

Give them the love, care and creativity to evolve into a beautiful bird.

It’s always exciting when my wife and daughter come home!

Realities of Raincouver

Raincouver

In Vancouver it rains … a lot … and then some.

Rain gear is essential.

Vancouver’s #1 rule; always have an umbrella.

And if you have a 3 year old — don’t  forget the rubber boots!

Jade’s Home and Workspace

Jade's Workspace / 1

Our family almost always paints or draws at our kitchen table.

We’ve thought long and hard about how to best integrate our family’s art space and material.

Firstly, we wanted to incorporate Jade’s art into the work space.

We also wanted our art resources / materials to be easily accessible.

For a final touch, we envisioned Jade’s paintings in our living room.

Last month, we went to Ikea and purchased some Expedit bookshelves.

For us, it’s a perfect space solution.

Today, I put up Jade’s art in our living / working area (pics below).

Mr. Cloudy and Vancouver

Mr. Cloudy

It’s’s been very wet and rainy here in Vancouver lately.

Looks like Mr. Cloudy has lots of his friends in our sky.

Hopefully, little Little Miss Sunshine will be back soon.

Everyone’s a little cheerier when she’s around.
